So as we all head into the new year we are all faced with the concept of New Years resolutions. Oh I have made
them before only to fall short of my goal as life (family and work) take over my good intentions. So this year I decided to get my friend Angela involved in my New Year resolution so that I have to be accountable to someone other than myself. Oh, I guess this would be a good place to tell you what my New Years Resolutionis.........well the plan is to be
physically active for a minimum of 30 minutes for all 365 days of the year. That is right every single day of 2012. So now you might be asking why are you blogging about it? Well Angela and I were trying to figure out how to keep each other on track, she lives in London and I live in Collingwood. We tried google calendar but that was really frustrating and then Angela sent me an excel sheet that had dates on it and that is not that much fun. So when I was snowshoeing the other day I thought to myself maybe I should blog about our efforts - make us accountable not only to each other but anyone else who might be interested in what we are up to. So that is the beginning of this blog I hope you enjoy and I look forward to your comments.

Days 69, 70 & 71 A Weekend for Ken

This weekend was for Ken - Angela's (my partner in exercise) dad.  Ken Mol died in a motorcycle accident in Florida on February 24th and this weekend was his celebration of life and his funeral.

Day 69 was a 45 minute run on the treadmill first think in the morning.  It was a cold morning and a busy day including a drive to London.  The drive was the worst drive I have had in a long time - roads were closed, complete white outs and over 4.5 hours for a typical 3 hour drive.

Day 70 - today I went for an early morning walk through the neighbourhood I grew up in.  I walked past houses and places that I hung out at during my teenage years.  I went by the house that Angela grew up in and remembered all of the times that I spent at her house - we would go there a lot - after working at the mall, after school, and almost every day in the summer.  Things I remember about being at her house are frozen bagels, ice burg lettuce salads with thousand Island dressing, Bart the worlds biggest dog, Ken working in the garage on either a motorcycle or someones car, tormenting Angela's sister Elissa, prank calling Kevin's house (he lived at the end of her street and was really cute - this was in a time when there was no call display)  so many good times with not a care in the world.
The funeral for Ken was beautiful and Angela did an amazing job on the eulogy - a fabulous tribute to her dad - what  strong and beautiful women Ken raised.

Day 71 - Sunday - today was time with the family - the weather definitely changed for the the better and warmed up extremely and Sean decided we needed to dust off our bikes (his was not dusty since he has been riding to work all winter - has not missed a day)  so off we went for ride through town - a town that we have yet to discover. It is amazing what can be accomplished during a 2 hour bike ride - helped moved a sign for Mountain Chiropractor, got Kade a new bike, and visited the candy store. We then took Matthew to a hockey practise and  moved two loads of outdoor stuff from the old house to the Collingwood house.  At the end of the day the boys were watching some silly show on TV so I decided to go for a walk instead of being sucked into the show!  It was a great idea!
