So as we all head into the new year we are all faced with the concept of New Years resolutions. Oh I have made
them before only to fall short of my goal as life (family and work) take over my good intentions. So this year I decided to get my friend Angela involved in my New Year resolution so that I have to be accountable to someone other than myself. Oh, I guess this would be a good place to tell you what my New Years Resolutionis.........well the plan is to be
physically active for a minimum of 30 minutes for all 365 days of the year. That is right every single day of 2012. So now you might be asking why are you blogging about it? Well Angela and I were trying to figure out how to keep each other on track, she lives in London and I live in Collingwood. We tried google calendar but that was really frustrating and then Angela sent me an excel sheet that had dates on it and that is not that much fun. So when I was snowshoeing the other day I thought to myself maybe I should blog about our efforts - make us accountable not only to each other but anyone else who might be interested in what we are up to. So that is the beginning of this blog I hope you enjoy and I look forward to your comments.

Days 198 to 202

Well here we are in the middle of summer and a heat wave no less.  Summer is a great time to get out and get active. This week was full of lots of variety.

Monday - Day 198 - today was a late night run with Heather - Heather decided she wanted to run 12 km - so if I wanted to join her I was in for the whole run.  It is amazing how much further you can push yourself when you have the help of a friend - thanks Heather.

Tuesday - Day 199 - today was a crazy busy day - I had to go to London to deal with some tenant issues. So I was in the car for 6 hours!!!!  Was not able to get my work out in until I got home at 10:30 at night - it was just a 30 minute brisk walk to flush the legs.

Wednesday - Day 200 - two hundred days - I cannot believe it - it seems like a lot of days but really it has not been that hard to fit in the 30 minutes.  Today I went for a 30 minute run with Matthew - he rode my mountain bike - which by the way was a mistake because he has realized it is nicer then his and now he wants it :)

Thursday - Day 201 - back to Active Life - such a great workout and great to see the morning ladies - I have not been there for 3 weeks.  It was a great challenge today - some tire kicking, rope and sand bag pulling and some good old running!

Friday - Day 202 - back on my mountain bike today.  Went out for the Friday mountain bike ride at 3 stages.  It was a big turn out - this was Sean's first ride in 4 weeks since his pinched nerve - so I enjoyed being able to keep up with him for at least one ride this year :)  The tail gate party in the parking lot after the ride was amazing - after a ride you really feel like you deserve a beer!

Yeah the Weekend - Days 196 & 197

The weekend was great - such great weather and lots going on!

Saturday - Day 196 - Well today The Georgian Bay Titans Mini Rugby Club hosted its annual tournament.  Lots of fun and lots of rugby.  Both boys played well and Sean & Todd did a great job organizing the event. That evening I also got to see the Jim Cuddy Band at Blue Mountain.  By the time the day wrapped up around 11:30pm I still had not gotten in my official 30 minutes of exercise, although I did get lots of running in during the rugby tournament!  So Sean and I went for a walk around the neighbourhood - got it in before the end of the day!!!

Sunday - Day 197 - another hot day!  Spent the day on Georgian Bay, tubing, snorkeling and exploring with the Hutton/Sauders!  Then later in the day went biking up Osler - that is right UP Osler!  Sarah needed to check some stuff out for her athletes training this week so that is what we did.  It was not fun at first but once I warmed up I was good.  It was a challenging one that is for sure!

Days 194 and 195 - Back to Work After Holidays!

Well now we are home and back to reality, although had such a great time and came home to great weather that it really was not too bad.  I maybe did not get as much work done as I could have.

Thursday - Day 194 - so tired today - the travelling all day yesterday has taken its toll on me today.  With jumping back into reality I only managed to get in a fast 30 minute walk late in the evening.

Friday - Day 195 - well my husband decided to clean out the garage which then lead to us taking stuff to a friends for a garage sale on Saturday.  So most of the evening was getting that stuff ready but I did get in a great 45 run with Heather around 9:30 pm

The Beach - Days 190 to 193

Still on vacation and having a great time!

Days 190 to 193 - pretty boring workouts - just early morning 30 or 40  minute runs.  Ok not too early and I never really did learn my lesson that I should go running earlier in Florida - it is hot at 8:30 am :) Could not do much more then 30 or 40 minutes because of the heat but one great thing was jumping in the pool after to stretch.  I also did some swimming - they had a really cool contraption that you put around your waist and then you could swim in place in the pool. So I did that a few times too!  Also lots of exploring and swimming at the beach.  Best part of running in the morning was not feeling guilty about the ice cream and beer I would have in the evening.

Disney - Days 187 to 189

As part of our vacation we spent a couple of days at Disney.  It was a lot of fun and the kids (and Nana) had a great time.  We visited Hollywood Studios, Magic Kingdom and Disney Downtown.  I got a minimum of 6 hours of walking each day.  Not just a stroll - if you know my family we like to get things done -so we were the family at Disney that were power walking through the parks so we could get as much in as possible.  So I had no problem being active these three days - that does not even include all the swimming at the resort we stayed at.

On Vacation - Days 184 to 186

Well we made it - we made it to vacation time and boy did we need it.  I was not able to update the blog from Florida as easily as I would have thought - one we were really busy and two the computer at the house did not like my blog site.  So here is the update for the last week.

Monday - Day 184 - well this was the day we left.  We still had not told the boys we were even going away until late in the morning.  We told they we were going to Niagara Fall to Marineland - they were far from impressed - they really wanted to go to Canada's Wonderland!  When we got to Niagara Fall we started to cross the bridge to the US and they were also not impressed and Matthew said "are we going shopping?"  So just before we got to the boarder on the US side I gave them each a Mickey Mouse luggage tag and told them to put them on their bags so that they did not get lost on the plane.  Matthew's jaw dropped and the first thing he said was "did you pack my bathing suit?"  Kade, well, he screamed with delight. So off we were onto our Disney/Florida vacation.

Oh I did manage to get in a great 7 km run first thing in the morning before we left with Heather.

Tuesday - Day 185 - First day in Florida and it was hot!!  Humid Hot.  My mom and I explored the neighbourhood in Titusville where we were staying - mom on a bike and me running - got in a 30 minute 5 k!

Wednesday - Day 186 - snuck out for a 5 k run first thing in the morning before anyone was up.  Then when I got back straight into the pool - what a great way to finish a run - the boys really enjoyed being able to swim anytime during the day or night - we are now on a mission to convince Sean to get one at home!!

Off to Disney tomorrow!

Half Way There - Days 182 & 183

Well I made it half way - that's right I have managed to do some kind of physical activity everyday for half a year - 183  days is half a year this year - one extra day due to the leap year.  Wow that went fast and was not that difficult. It is amazing how my thinking has changed - instead of "I should work out today"  it has become "When will I work out today".  Feels good - anyone interested in participating with me for the rest of the year let me know - it is only for 183 days :)

Saturday - Day 182 -  well today I headed to the hills - well I headed to the top of Georgian Peaks Ski Club and did a great trail run with my running buddy from my old stomping ground - Clarksburg - Lorraine and I did a great loop up top and even added a little adventure trying out a new loop that we had never tried to get in a good 8 km run.

Sunday - Day 183 - I have been thinking about this day for a while as it approached- trying to figure what I could do to celebrate- try something new? Do something big?  But I have so much going on this weekend getting ready for our family vacation -which the kids do not know about yet - we are heading to Disney - so if you read this before we leave tomorrow don't mention it to Matthew or Kade - ok?  So since I did not do anything exciting or extravagant - I did run 5km - I figure that I would share this day with all of Canada - Happy Canada Day!!!!!!!!

Look forward to updating everyone from Florida
