So as we all head into the new year we are all faced with the concept of New Years resolutions. Oh I have made
them before only to fall short of my goal as life (family and work) take over my good intentions. So this year I decided to get my friend Angela involved in my New Year resolution so that I have to be accountable to someone other than myself. Oh, I guess this would be a good place to tell you what my New Years Resolutionis.........well the plan is to be
physically active for a minimum of 30 minutes for all 365 days of the year. That is right every single day of 2012. So now you might be asking why are you blogging about it? Well Angela and I were trying to figure out how to keep each other on track, she lives in London and I live in Collingwood. We tried google calendar but that was really frustrating and then Angela sent me an excel sheet that had dates on it and that is not that much fun. So when I was snowshoeing the other day I thought to myself maybe I should blog about our efforts - make us accountable not only to each other but anyone else who might be interested in what we are up to. So that is the beginning of this blog I hope you enjoy and I look forward to your comments.

Days 268 to 272 - Painting, Painting, Painting

Another week and another busy one.  The days are shorter and they seem to be busier too.  Less time for myself and my new years revolution.

Monday - Day 268 - another great early morning workout at Active Life.  I then spent the day in TO with Melissa - that is a busy place makes me so very happy that I live where I live.

Tuesday - Day 269 - this was a beautiful day and I spent the majority of the day and evening painting the exterior of my house.  I have to get it done as soon as possible so that I do not have to wait until the spring.  Lots of up and down ladders.  Once the sun went down I took a spin around the neighbourhood to clear my head and to get in my 30 minutes (45 minutes actually!)

Wednesday - Day 270 - the great weather continues - Sarah and I went for an early morning run to get Sarah ready for the run for the cure this weekend.  We ran a fast 7 km.

Thursday - Day 271 - an Active Life workout first thing in the am.

Friday - Day 272 - a busy day at work and then painting in the evening until dark. Once everything was cleaned up I went for a very fast walk to get in my physical activity before a great dinner with my husband.  I really cannot believe how much my legs hurt from climbing the ladder so much this week.

Days 261 to 265 - Only One Hundred To Go!

Another week and more routine!  Which I like. Lots going on this week and some fall weather ahead so more painting.  Oh I reached a milestone day this week - Day 265 - which means only 100 days to go, 100 days to the end of the year and yes even less days until Christmas! (sorry I had to mention it)

Monday - Day 261 - oh the 6:15am workout - I love it when it is done but I do not love getting out of bed that early!  Another great workout lead by Steph at Active Life.  I also got in a little more painting after getting some work done - sure felt the leg workout while climbing that ladder!

Tuesday - Day 262 - Another busy day - I took most of the day off work to paint my house - got lots done and I love the colour - not sure on the shutter colour though - if you are in the neighbourhood stop by and let me know which colour you like - yes I have different coloured shutters right now - I could not decide on the colour!  The rain came later in the day so after hockey and all the homework was done Matthew and I went for a walk in the rain - the pouring rain (of course the pouring started after we were far from home!)  It was good to just have Matthew with me - got all caught up on his life and got a great hour workout in too!

Wedneday - Day 263 - today I was at York University to present information about OPPI (Ontario Professional Planners Institute) of which I am a member, about the benefits of our professional organization and of being a registered professional planner.  It was a great turn out and I had a lot of fun!  I also had to park a couple of miles away from the presentation location- so I got a good 30 minute walk in my heels on campus!  I also had a great walk with my mom after I got home - great to catch up with her too!

Thurday - Day 264 - bright and early with Active Life and then a walk to the Huron House in the evening to celebrate Lorrianne's birthday.

Friday - Day 265 - well I only have 100 days to go to reach my goal! I did not realize this was a milestone day or else I would have done something really exciting - like run for 265 minutes or 265 kilometres  -who am I kidding I would not have done anything that crazy.  Unfortunately I was not feeling that great - headache- and had tons to do - so I just walked to my lunch hour hair appointment it was a good 35 minute walk and what a day - it said it was going to rain all day and it did not - great for Kade's class as they are at the fair today but I could have been painting!

Days 259 & 260 - Painting the World (My World)

So the weekend is here and I have decided to paint the exterior of our house, not a small job and one that depends on the weather.  One great thing about it is that it is a great workout - all that climbing up and moving of ladders.

Saturday - Day 259 - Let the painting begin!  Well after hockey that is - I am now officially a hockey mom! Both boys are playing hockey and Kade made the Collingwood Blackhawke Novice AE team (the second rep team) - so that is going to be even more hockey!  Once that was completed it was time to start prepping the house for painting - prepping is the key to painting and takes a long time without any instant gratification!  I spent the day climbing up and down the ladder putting TSP on the siding and cleaning it in anticipating of the first brush of colour :)  We then went out for dinner to celebrate Luke's birthday.  Once we got home I did not feel like I had fulfilled my 30 minutes of exercise so I walked around the block 3 times -very quickly - at close to midnight and got it in!

Sunday - Day 260 - the sun is shinning!  That means I can start painting and that is what I did - for hours - until it was dark and then I went for 5 km run just to flush the legs!

Days 254 to 258 Back to Active LIfe

Well here we are back to our regular schedule, school is in session, hockey has started and best of all Active Life Conditioning's Fall session has started.  I honestly feel lost with out it in my regular schedule.  So here is to the regular schedule and my regular workouts!

Monday - Day 254 - First day back at my 6:15 am Active Life Conditioning Class and this morning we had a new instructor - Steph Martinek - so this morning was her first class too.  What a great workout and Steph you did a great job - especially loved the stretch at the end of class - something I need to do more of.

Tuesday - Day 255 - sent kids to school and got myself ready and out the door for a 35 minute run - felt great, except my legs were a little sore from my workout yesterday.

Wednesday - Day 256 - had to go to Barrie with Sean this evening to do some running around so I did not get my workout in until later in the evening - 10:30 pm - for a 5 km run- it was so nice out and I had the whole town to myself.

Thursday - Day 257 - So my alarm did not go off this morning so I missed my Active Life workout at 6:15 am- not a great way to start the session - I did however jump into a nooner class with Sarah - glad I did not miss a workout already this session!  I also fit in a great 6 km run with Lorianne after the kids went to bed - it was so warm outside I wore a tank top - have to take advantage of these last days of summer.

Friday - Day 258 - So it is Friday night and everyone in my household does not feel well, including myself, so the boys put on a guy movie - boring!! and I decided to walk to get some errands done - the Ready's to drop off ketchup, then Lesley's to drop off a plate that I brought some birthday cake home on, then to Vinty's to drop off a thank you from Roxy, Loblaws for ginger (a request from Sean - it likes it when he is not feeling well) then home.  Took me a good hour to get this all done and to be honest I felt better after I got home.

Days 247 to 251 - Back to School

Well this is the week that it all gets back to normal, back to school, and back to normal.

Monday - Day 247 - the last day of summer holidays, spent the day getting ready for the first day of school - making sure all three boys are ready to go. We also got in one more swim and paddle in the Georgian Bay and I got in a great 5 km run with Lorraine.

Tuesday - Day 248 - an early morning and packing lunches - I forgot how much work getting ready for school in the morning is.  The day was filled with me getting back into a routine at work and getting organized to get lots done this September.  Sean and I enjoyed an end of the day brisk 30 minute walk to discuss the first day of school.

Wednesday - Day 249 - Got the kids off to school and headed out for a run- the weather is still so nice and I had nothing pressing for work so I thought I would get my exercise in first thing.  Took a run on the Collingwood trails near my house and pushed myself for a 7 km run - it was not easy this morning but I was glad that I got it in.

Thursday - Day 250 - not feeling great today - someone, the boys or Sean, must have brought something home with them from school - I have a sore throat and my lungs hurt.  Just ended up walking around the neighbourhood after dinner for my 30 minutes.

Friday - Day 251 - got a call at lunch from Lorriane asking if I wanted to run over lunch.  I had so much to do and knew that I had a busy evening so I took her up on her offer.  We managed a good pace - even though my throat still hurt - and sweated for  35 minutes.

Day 245 & 246 - A Biking Weekend

Well the weekend is here - I actually saw the weekend in at 3 am still sitting around the camp fire at my birthday party. What a great way to start this weekend and the next phase of my life.

Saturday - Day 245 - I was a little under the weather this morning - a late night and a few too many drinks. But despite that I did get a great cleansing mountain bike ride in. Our trip last week was great and there was some great mountain biking but boy we have amazing mountain biking here - we are so lucky.

Sunday - Day 246 - Another great summer day and the whole family went for a mountain bike ride at three stages.  These kids of mine are so lucky to have all of this amazing landscape to play in and to explore.

Days 240 to 244 - Happy Birthday to Me!!

We are still in Vermont but we are now camping again  - could only afford two days of luxury at the Resort.  We are camping in Brighton State Park - in the hub of some amazing Mountain Biking.

Monday - Day 240 - well today Sarah, Heather, Rachel and I went and explored Kingdom Trails.  This is an area of some great mountain biking - I really enjoyed the ride and was surprised that it was not a technical as we are use to here in Ontario (we take it for granted that we live in an area with such amazing mountain biking only 5 minutes from home).  Well we rocked the ride and had a blast "pushing the pace" through some really nice single track!  We also enjoyed some locally brewed beer at the local pub after!

Tuesday - Day 241 - back to Kingdom Trails - this time with everyone - kids included.  We spent the morning at the pump track and then went for a family ride on the mountain bike trails.  Our kids did great and we surprised some of the other mountain bikers out for a ride that day when our kids - ranging in age from 8 to 11 -  whipped by them on a black diamond trail!

Wednesday - Day 242 - today was a rainy day so I joined the Buckrell Family on a shopping trip to North Conway.  So when we got back to the camp site Maeve and I walked around the camp ground to get in my 30 minutes.

Thursday - Day 243 - Today was pack up day - so my birthday started with a 30 minute run through Brighton State park with Sarah and ended near Brockville.  We got stuck in Brockville after almost getting taken out by a transport truck on the 401.  Not a great birthday but the good thing and the best present ever was that my family did not get hurt!

Friday - Day 245 - Today we made our way home - it was a long drive and we got home around 7:30 pm and I managed to get in a 30 minute run before going out for drinks - but drinks turned out to be a surprise birthday party.

Day 239 & 240 - Vermont

So now we are on our way to Jay Peak Resort in Vermont.  I must say this is beautiful country and makes for great scenery when driving!

Saturday - Day 238 - today was filled with stair climbing.  We spent the day at the indoor water park at Jay Peak Resort. It was so much fun and boy did the stair climb for the water slides take its toll on my legs.  I also did a lot of stair climbing trying to do some laundry for the second half of our camping trip - the change machine was not working on any of the floors and then when I got the change none of the machines with the laundry detergent worked!!!  It took me 45 minutes of stair climbing before I got the laundry started!!!

Sunday - Day 239 - Woke up early today after an amazing sleep in a bed with puffy white bedding - so very nice.  Sean and I decided to check the resort out and I ended up convincing him to climb Jay Peak for 30 minutes!!! I then did it again when Heather and Sarah got up and wanted company - so a good hour of hill climbing today!

Matthew and I at the top of Jay Peak

Days 233 to 237

So we are suppose to be on our holidays starting at the beginning of this week, however we had some technical difficulties with the volkswagen and the start was delayed a couple of days.  Still had a great week and got lots of exercise in another province and in a state.

Monday - Day 233 - today was a quick brisk 30 minute walk - my calves were still sore from last week.

Tuesday - Day 234 - a crazy busy day getting work organized and packing.  Matthew and I went for a good 45 minute walk and had a good talk too!

Wednesday - Day 235 - today is departure day - day one of vacation - so to start it off on the right foot I started the day with a 5 km run.

Thursday - Day 236 - In Gatineau at Lake Philippe - finally!  Got to go for a fabulous mountain bike ride with Sarah and Heather (hour and a half) - best part was the beer at the cafe!

Friday - Day 237 - Today we explored the Lusk Caves - I ran to the caves (30 minutes) and the boys biked - then we went exploring!! Later in the afternoon the boys and I went biking while Sean worked on the van.
