So as we all head into the new year we are all faced with the concept of New Years resolutions. Oh I have made
them before only to fall short of my goal as life (family and work) take over my good intentions. So this year I decided to get my friend Angela involved in my New Year resolution so that I have to be accountable to someone other than myself. Oh, I guess this would be a good place to tell you what my New Years Resolutionis.........well the plan is to be
physically active for a minimum of 30 minutes for all 365 days of the year. That is right every single day of 2012. So now you might be asking why are you blogging about it? Well Angela and I were trying to figure out how to keep each other on track, she lives in London and I live in Collingwood. We tried google calendar but that was really frustrating and then Angela sent me an excel sheet that had dates on it and that is not that much fun. So when I was snowshoeing the other day I thought to myself maybe I should blog about our efforts - make us accountable not only to each other but anyone else who might be interested in what we are up to. So that is the beginning of this blog I hope you enjoy and I look forward to your comments.

Days 364 to 366 - The Final Push

Well this is the end of the year and the end of my New Years Resolution for 2012 - that is right I did it - I managed to get in at a minimum 30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise every day.  What an experience and I am really excited that I was able to stick to it for 365 (366) days.  Still don't know what my New Year Resolution will be for 2013 - nothing like 2012 but I will try to think of something that will be a challenge.  I will let you know.

Saturday - Day 364 - we survived tons of hockey over the last couples of days at Kade and Matthew's tournaments only to get home Saturday to them having to play a couple of regular season games - what a busy Saturday.  Ventured out at the end of the day for a intended walk and ended but both walking a 5 km then running 5km - it took me a while to warm up :)

Sunday - Day 365 - well this is my 365 days completed - but not an entire year because of course I picked a leap year for a year long resolution!!  Best day this winter so far - my first snow shoe of the season - up the Niagara Escarpment at Osler Ski Club.  Had the pleasure of hanging out with Sarah, Heather D and Lorraine.  It is amazing how working out everyday helps with the first hill climb of the winter season - it was so much fun, despite some equipment issues and the scenery was amazing.  Nothing beats fresh winter air for an hour and a half.

Monday - Day 366 - well there you have it - the end!  The Challenge has been completed.  This is New Years Eve day so I started it out with Laura's class at Active Life - always a great workout and today happened to have a great cardio component to it - that always helps this time of the year.  Then in the evening we did a family snowshoe with friends in the dark up the escarpment - the kids rocked it and then we rang in the the new year.

Tuesday - Day 367 - New Years Day - so since I have not figured out my new New Years Resolution I figured I would blog about my awesome and fast snow shoe at Osler with Sean (up again).  A great way to clear our minds and body with some fresh air and exercise.  I am hoping that this new habit of being physical everyday will continue into 2013 and will help get us ready for an adventure to Australia that we hope to do in 2014 - stay tuned.

Days 359 to 363 - Happy Holidays

Well here we are the week of Christmas.  Busy times - people to see, places to go and workouts to do!  Hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday and are giving some serious thoughts about thier New Year Resolutions.  This has been one of the biggest commitments that I have undertaken ever - I mean in terms of sticking to it 100% - that is not 1 day missed.  There were days that I really did not feel like getting out there - it would be late, cold, raining, snowing etc.  but I did every time and you know I felt great both physically and mentally.  I did have a great support network - my kids - always making sure I got it in, Sean (hubby) late night walking partner, my workout friends, the Active Life ladies and my faithful blog followers - thanks so much everyone that was quite a ride.  Now I don't have any idea how I will top this - although I do know that I plan on continuing with this one (they say it takes 30 days to start a new habit - so I can't just stop now it has become such a big part of my everyday)

Monday - Day 359 - Christmas Eve Day - this is a busy day for us - our family hosts an annual Christmas Eve Open House - so there was lots of stuff to day in preparation.  So in anticipation of a crazy day I got out early with Lorraine for a 5 km run and walk - we ran for 30 minutes and walked for 30 minutes - the walk sort of happened because we were still talking after the run and figured we might as well keep exercising.

Tuesday - Day 360 - Merry Christmas - another day where we were pulled in a million directions - Sean and I managed to fit in great 45 minute walk just before dinner to clear our minds and bellies!

Wednesday - Day 361 - Boxing Day - no shopping for me - just cleaning of the house and visiting with my mom and aunt.  Snuck in a 6 km run to help with the sugar cravings - didn't really work though - but the legs felt good!

Thursday - Day 362 - well woke up to over a foot of snow - a foot of snow that I needed to clean off my car to get my 6:15 am Active Life workout - felt good to get up early and to get in a strength workout.

Friday - Day 363 - we are at a hockey tournament (both boys - oddly enough just 15 minutes away from each other near Alliston) so there was lots of sitting around and watching the kids have some great skating time.  Between a couple of the games Heather and I got out for a great brisk (speed and temperature) walk for 45 minutes - thanks Heather for helping me get to the finish line.

Days 357 & 358 - A travelling weekend

This weekend is an away weekend with lots of visits planned with family and friends in London and area.  This is also the last weekend to get all the last minutes items for Christmas off my list - including my workouts :)

Saturday - Day 357 - today was really a great workout and visit with one of my best friends Angela.  Her husband Rob Lawrence is running boot camps in South London so I decided to join them and get a visit in with Angela at the same time - I have to get my 30 minutes in.  It was a great cardio and upper body workout and great way to kick off the holiday season - thanks Rob!

Sunday - Day 358 - couldn't sleep so decided to get up and get outside for a run through the neighbourhood that I grew up in.  It was cold but I got in a great 7km (45 minute) run before our big family Christmas in Grand Bend.

Days 352 to 356 Christmas is Coming

Christmas is coming and I can't do anything to stop it!!!!  Going away next weekend to celebrate the festive season with my side of the family and then Christmas is as soon as we get back - so needless to say I have to basically be ready for Christmas by Friday and oh did I mention work is crazy busy!!  Here we go!

Monday - Day 352 - well now I don't feel good - sore throat and headache. Skipped my early morning workout and ended up walking with the kids in the evening to deliver our Christmas cards in Collingwood.

Tuesday - Day 353 - decided to jump into the Tuesday morning ladies conditioning class at Active Life.  Throat did not feel better but I couldn't sleep so I thought I would get it in as I did not know how the rest of the day would turn out.

Wednesday - Day 354 - well not a great day - the throat was really sore and my head was pounding all day long - Kade had hockey and I send him with the coach so Matthew and I walked around town to get some fresh air and to finish the delivery of our Christmas card - the fresh air did feel good on the throat and did help with my sleep.

Thursday - Day 355 - 10 days to go - got up early to work out with ladies - last day of this session and I did not want to miss it.  It was a good one - not my best workout as I am not 100% but felt good to sweat!

Friday - Day 356 - deadlines!!! a crazy work day and trying to get organized to head to London for the weekend - hoped to get in a lunch time run or walk but no such luck.  Ended up taking a late night walk in London once we got there - it was a crazy one 70 km winds and cold but I got it in - there was no way that I was going to miss a day this close to the end!

Days 350 & 351 - The Count Down Is On!

15 days to go - that is only 2 weeks - I can't believe that I now need to figure out what to challenge myself with next year - do I do the same thing but add to it? try something completely different?  I really don't know and to be honest I have not really had a chance to think about it.  I better soon as the New Year is just around the corner.

Saturday - Day 350 - decided to kick this not feeling great thing in the butt and got out to a great "Push Your Pace" workout at Active Life this morning - like I always say "a great way to start the weekend"

Sunday - Day 351 - since everyone is sick in my house - Sean is still out and Kade is not 100% we are not up to much this weekend and I have managed to get some sleep - so I started the day with an early morning run with Lorraine - you know build the immune system to keep those bugs at bay!

Days 345 to 349 - The Invasion

This is the week it all fell apart - the bugs invaded our house.  It started with Kade who got the flu and was home from school for 3 days and then it hit Sean.  Made this weeks physical activities a little more challenging to fit in - but don't worry it all worked out!

Monday - Day 345 - Kade was up all night so I did not get out of bed early to get to Active Life - I needed the extra time for sleep so I could function for work.  Did not get out of the house until late in the evening and was so tired I only managed a brisk evening walk.

Tuesday - Day 346 - again not much sleep but decided to get my butt to Active Life, since I was awake anyway, so that I did not have to worry all day about when I would get my exercise in.

Wednesday - Day 347 - another day home with Kade and I am not sure if it is the lack of sleep or the fact that Kade has basically been attached to me for three days but now I don't feel great - decided to just walk after dinner tonight was not in the mood for a run.

Thursday - Day 348 - got a great sleep - well better than the last three nights - and was ready to get a great workout in at Active Life - it was a great one!

Friday - Day 349 - now Sean is sick - came home from work yesterday afternoon and went right to bed.  I was good all day and then I started to get the chills in the evening - of course just before I was planning on getting in a good run - could only manage a fast paced 50 minute walk.

Sunday - Day 344 - Matthew had an early morning hockey practice so I volunteered to take him and got my 5 km run in while he was on the ice.
